Waterbury Hospital to Host Integrative Health Fair
Event to be highlighted by annual lecture focusing on
“reconnective healing”
WATERBURY – The benefits of integrative medicine, in
which science and spirituality are used to promote
healing, will be the topic of an Integrative Health Fair
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 12 in the
Bizzozero Conference Room at Waterbury Hospital.
The
highlight of the fair will be the hospital’s annual
Florence Erlanger Alternative Medicine Lecture, which
this year will be delivered by Gene Ang, PhD, a
neurobiologist who specializes in the role that
spiritual energy plays in healing the mind, body and
spirit. Trained at Yale University, Ang operates a
healing practice based out of Thousand Oaks, Calif. His
hour-long lecture, which begins at noon, will focus on
the many dimensions that play a central role in
healing.
Before
and after this one-hour lecture by Ang, people are
invited to visit booths by a variety of practitioners or
to experience a drum circle or sound healing with
Tibetan singing bowls.
Laura
Mignosa, a nationally certified Chinese herbologist and
Director of the Connecticut Institute for Herbal
Studies, will provide information about the benefits of
Chinese Herbal Therapy.
Carol
Tyler, a specialist in holistic nutrition counseling,
will be on hand to share her expertise about mindful
eating and creating a healthy relationship with food.
Randy
Brody, a therapeutic drummer, and Marie Menut, RN, a
specialist in Tibetan singing bowls and vibration
healing, will both offer opportunities to experience
vibrational medicine from these two very different
perspectives. The fair will also feature massage
therapists and other practitioners.
The
Florence Erlanger Lecture is delivered every year at
Waterbury Hospital with topics focusing on holistic and
other forms of alternative medicine. The health fair is
free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so
anyone interested in attending should RSVP by November
10 by calling (203) 573-7691.
